An industry leading, technologically advanced market making firm is looking to hire a Head of Technology Risk to report directly to the CEO & Founder. The firm is still relatively new with 50 employees in their Chicago headquarters, however, they've experienced significant success and are poised for growth across all business lines. Due to firmwide growth, the firm is looking to build out a centralized risk infrastructure and this individual will play a key role in getting all policies, procedures and standards implemented. The firm mostly focuses on equities, natural gas, crude oil, and precious metals, but will be launching new offerings in the near future.
The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of experience, strong knowledge of algo trading systems and how they interact with the business, and the ability to drive initiatives across multiple teams. This will not be a coding heavy role, however this individual will be expected to understand systems and how to improve and enhance from a project management standpoint.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Trading, Quants, and Development to implement comprehensive risk management processes across the firm
- Make critical decisions regarding the firm's automated trading systems by designing market and technology risk systems and methodologies as well as satisfying stress testing processes
- Build out a business continuity plan to ensure the firm's ability to navigate unforeseen events
- Oversee the implementation of an incident reporting system
- Develop new risk and controls for new exchanges as they're added
- Enhance algo trading risk models from a controls perspective
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in Technology Risk, Model Risk, or Operational Risk at a trading firm
- Strong understanding of risk systems and how they operate across teams
- Ability to drive change and lead initiatives
- Desire for business line ownership and the ability to work with C-suite executives
