The Public Relations Associate reports to and works closely with the Public Relations Manager, Europe, as well as the General Manager, Germany, to develop and execute communications strategies to reach stakeholders including policy makers, association partners, current and potential customers.
The position is strongly focused on media relations and, to a lesser extent, events planning and NGO engagement to drive market development and sustainability initiatives across Germany. Occasionally, this will also include engagements with other European markets, predominantly Poland.
The successful candidate will bring an understanding of strategic communications, media relations and/or the German energy landscape, ideally with three to four years' experience in a related field.
Role Responsibilities for PR Associate:
- Work with the Communications Department to ensure that messaging is consistent with brand and messaging guidelines while being appropriately tailored to German audiences, facilitating translation where needed.
- Media relations activities.
- Develop and manage relationships with the news media.
- Research, develop, and pitch story ideas to the media.
- Coordinate interviews, briefings and written responses to media inquires.
- Build relationships with partner associations, think tanks, and other thought leaders.
- Identify opportunities for sponsorship and community engagement, as well as philanthropic activities.
- Create Germany-focused content for the Company's website, social media channels and employee intranet, including local case studies.
- Support the Sales & Marketing and/or Sustainability team with preparation for conference participation or other speaking engagements, including working with Communications Department colleagues to create presentations, displays, fact-sheets, and other leave behind materials.
Individual Attributes for PR Associate:
- Bachelor's Degree required from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
- 3-4 years of experience in public relations, journalism, energy or a related field
- German and English language proficiency, both written and oral fluency.
- Minimum basic - ideally advanced experience, in liaising with press, industry analysts, executive leaders, customers, and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Proven track record of building and maintaining media relationships
- Polish language proficiency (fluent) in addition to German language proficiency - although not essential.
- Deadline-driven self-starter with good judgement and a strong attention to detail
- Interest in energy markets, renewable energy sources and/or policies
- A dynamic, pro-active personality that is keen to learn, enjoys networking and building relationships
- Confident within your own domain but collaborative attitude
Travel requirements
- The role is based in Germany but will occasionally require travel to other European jurisdictions and/or the US.
- Travel to the UK will be more prevalent in the first year.
