Responsibilities:
- Evaluate insurance applications for commercial lines of coverage.
- Assess risk factors, such as the applicant's financial status, claims history, and industry trends, to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting assistants and actuaries, to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy in underwriting processes.
- Communicate underwriting decisions effectively to agents, brokers, and other stakeholders, providing rationale and guidance as needed.
- Stay updated on industry developments, regulatory changes, and market trends to continuously improve underwriting practices and maintain competitiveness.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial underwriting, preferably in the Propoerty and Casualty insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk assessment techniques, and insurance regulations.
- Experience with Auto Liability, APD, MTC, or Long-Term Care insurance products is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and interact with clients professionally.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
