Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Actuarial Services. In this role, you will lead a team of actuaries in providing strategic guidance and analytical support to drive financial objectives and ensure the sustainability of our health insurance products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the actuarial team in the development and implementation of pricing, reserving, and financial forecasting models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze healthcare trends, utilization patterns, and regulatory changes to inform product development and pricing strategies.
- Lead the evaluation of financial risks associated with EmblemHealth's insurance products and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of actuarial reports and findings to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of actuarial processes and methodologies.
- Stay current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and competitiveness in the marketplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Actuarial credentials (ASA/FSA) required.
- Minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, with demonstrated expertise in pricing, reserving, and financial modeling.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a team of actuaries.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in actuarial software and statistical programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, Python).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into actionable insights and recommendations.
