As Underwriting Manager, you will lead all aspects of our client's Self Storage Program.
Your role will be integral in client and carrier interactions, establishing new relationships and strengthening existing ones. You will supervise a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants, focusing on their growth through training, coaching, and managing employee relations.
Collaborating closely with the Program Manager, agency senior leadership, and cross-functional managers, you will build upon the foundational values of unwavering loyalty, collaboration, accountability, responsibility, and enthusiasm in every facet of our client's operations.
Key Responsibilties:
- Provide training, leadership, support, and guidance to your team.
- Influence and motivate the organizational culture.
- Supervise carrier audits.
- Engage in high-level account underwriting.
- Take ownership of new business growth and renewal retention.
- Manage all underwriting documentation, including email templates and checklists.
- Oversee non-program lines of coverage and vendor relationships.
- Enhance processes and uphold underwriting integrity.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to strategize future program growth, staffing, and automation.
- Regularly innovate coverage enhancements to improve the program.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of product lines to offer consultative coverage solutions.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Ideal Qualities and Experience:
- Current Arizona Property & Casualty Insurance License
- Over 8 years of experience in Insurance Underwriting
- Minimum of 2+ years management experience - overseeing teams of five or more Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants
- 4+ years experience working with carriers and brokers
- Demonstrated capability in operational execution ensuring program and agency compliance with legal and carrier standards
- Strong dedication to detail and a diligent work ethic
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Proven leadership in guiding subordinate staff in their daily job functions
